  3. Copy HTML Tag: Click "Copy HTML" and paste the `` snippet into the `` section of your webpage's HTML.
  4. Non-HTML Files: If you are indexing a PDF or an image, copy the HTTP Header format and apply it via your server configuration (e.g., Apache or Nginx).

What is a Canonical Tag?

A canonical tag (`rel="canonical"`) is an HTML element that helps webmasters prevent duplicate content issues in search engine optimization. It tells search engines like Google which version of a URL you want to appear in search results.

Why strip tracking parameters?

URLs often accumulate tracking parameters (e.g., `?utm_campaign=sale` or `?fbclid=123`). While these help analytics, they create infinite URL variations for the exact same page. Stripping them in your canonical tag forces search engines to consolidate ranking signals to your clean, main URL.
